If I Wrote a Book About You

Written by Stephany Aulenback

Illustrated by Denise Holmes

We have a snow day here in CO, rare, but it does happen. I checked this book out from the library last week, a blind pick if you will, and I’m so happy I stumbled upon it. The mother writes all about her child, using heart-warming words which are accompanied by beautiful illustrations. It perfectly expresses a mom's feelings towards her precious little ones. Kids will enjoy looking for the big words in the tree branches, sand at the beach, peas on a plate and so on.

ACTIVITY: This is on my list today since we are snowed inside. Make a list of qualities about each person...clever, entertaining, strong, magnificent, remarkable, precious, kind, etc. Then go around the house and find items to spell out the words. I’m thinking dominos, markers, puzzle pieces, plastic animals, wood letters, toilet paper squares, paper clips, coins. The kids will have fun searching for objects and they can work on spelling!
